The Mazza's miss Judy very much. We talk about the fun times, especially the holidays as the families celebrated together.
Judy, if you are logging in from time to time to read these notes, please know how much we love you, and how proud you should be of your children.
I will send pix later
Judy and I were friends before junior high/high school, maybe when we were 9 or 10. We were in a club called The Pixies. I distinctly remember playing at her house. As we got older and made new friends, we didn't remain close, but we were still friendly. I last saw her at the 30th reunion, and she looked the same -- quite beautiful. I wasn't aware of the Plainedge website until recently, and I was shocked to learn of her passing, even though it was quite a while ago. My condolences to her family and those who were close to her.
Judy and I were friends in elementary school. We got to know one another and shared something very important... we both loved to sing, we were both musicians. Judy was an excellent musician. Whenever we were together we sang, there were always songs to sing and sing them we did. As the years went on we were no longer close friends but we still shared the love of music. We always sang next to eachother in concert choir and Madrigals. We loved singing Renaissance music and on Madrigal rehearsal day when we saw eachother in the hallways we always looked at eachother and said "MA-DROO-GALS!" We were so anxious to get to the music room and dive into that music. For those who truly enjoy choral music, it is not about solo singing, it is about being a part of an ensemble. It is about making music. I went on to major in vocal music in college. I can honestly say that singing next to Judy was one of my first true musical experiences--I can still hear her pure, sweet soprano ringing in my ear. Leaving high school meant that I no longer heard her voice, and that saddened me. I had the opportunity to tell her that before graduation and she told me she felt the same. We both felt that hearing one another's voice made us sing better. I still have the record from Junior High-- Nassau All County Chorale--we listened to it for the first time in the Sylvia Packard Planetarium--can you imagine hearing that magnificent Chorale performing "The Last Words of David" while gazing up at the constellations?
Judy, this is for you --"April is in my mistress' face, and July in her eyes hath grace...." I pray that you continued to enjoy singing in your lifetime. I send my deepest sympathy to your family. Thank you for the music. Love, Kristina
I will always regret losing touch with Judy. She was a wonderful friend and loving mother, as well as a gifted singer. I recall going to hear her sing with a band at a club on LI - she was terrific! My deepest sympathy goes to her family and friends. I know that she is missed terribly. Ann
